Flash Fic #10 – Pod

“Don’t think. Don’t listen. Don’t look. Just close your eyes and ride it out. Okay?” He said as he strapped her into the snug, ovoid pod; his fingers sped over the locks and buttons as he tried to ignore the constant banging bearing down on the doors behind them.

“And you’ll be right behind me, daddy? You’ll find me when you land?” She asked as tears blurred her father’s face; she wiped them away intent on remembering every detail of his face.

“I…of course. Now you have to go. I love you.” As he kissed her forehead, the doors slammed open and they came pouring in snarling and snapping their teeth; in an instant, he closed her pod and slammed his hand on the release button.

The vacu-hatch opened and sucked everything inside the bay out into the vast, endless void; she watched as her father, and all the monsters they ran from, froze solid in the chill of the void.

Idea Bounce: Intergalactic Undercover (and life update)

Recently I took on two jobs/internships. One has me writing about 5 articles a day while the other has me reading and editing manuscripts. I’m learning to juggle my time and I’ve carved out some writing time. I should have new work up for you guys this week. Anyways, I’ve been working on this idea for a few weeks now.

Intergalactic Undercover (definitely a placeholder and not the title) follows a group of intergalactic, freelancing spies headed up by humanoid alien Ava’anala’aket Plutova (Ava Pluto for short) and her Right Hand, modified human Evita Kemet. Rounding out the team are Heliomite twins Sydney and Sylvestra (Sly), Aguavian Clone Arexus Coloot, and extra terrestrial humanoid cat Queenstar Drake.

The gang is called upon by the Lotus Nebula Galactic Counsel for a mission to find out what has been causing strange anomalies across several galaxies. They end up crossing galaxies through wormholes trying to figure out what is causing the anomalies which are only causing more trouble as time goes on as they are thinning time and space giving view to an alternate dimension.

I feel like depending on what I do with this it could feature a cross over from Steele Shift using Xura to help fix the breach. But that will only happen if I do it as a novel. The idea at the moment is to write a pilot for a tv series and see if I can shop it around.

I really like this idea and I hope to delve further into it soon.

Idea bounce – Steel Shift: A Cyborg Space Voyage

Eegan March is a former military soldier and lab rat who was subjected to several experimental procedures. The result is an ability to shapeshift and adapt to almost anything, a ‘living’ metal arm (hence the title), a bionic obsidian eye, and an implant that allows him to hack a range of technology both domestic and alien. He is a mercenary living a solitary life on a near desolate planet in a far off star system. He is employed to steal an object from a nearby planet, but before he can do the job and get back to his ship, he runs into a pair of teen boys roughing up a 12yr. old girl. He helps her and she proceeds to follow him on his mission. He attempts to leave, but she stows away on his ship. Blah, blah, blah; she tells him she is a long lost princess from a planet called Celestia and her name is Xura. He doesn’t believe her, but she shows him her abilities and he begrudgingly agrees to take her back to her planet. They go on a search to find her planet, but when they get there, the enemy forces who stole her all those years ago are still there and the planet is dying. Her power is the only thing that can save it, so they fight to get her to a temple at the core of the planet where she can restore Celestia to its former glory and rid it of the enemy invaders…and that’s all I got so far. Looking for feedback…
